  • COVID-19 18 March 2020

    COVID-19 18 March 2020

Dear 3DAAA Affiliated Clubs & Members Date: 18th March 2020

    Addressing Management of the
    Current COVID-19 Pandemic

Following on from our communication on the 13th of March 2020, where we advised that we sought not to postpone or cancel 3DAAA events at that point in time.

It is with regret that the 3D Archery Association of Australia has reviewed this in light of the latest changing events and need to advise our clubs as of today all Sanctioned and Special events on the 2020 calendar are to be postponed / suspended until the 30th of April 2020.
As this situation is fluid and changing on a daily basis we will continue to monitor the changing conditions and review how we can best manage our events in 2020.

We recommend that all club shoots and activities be postponed immediately until after the 30th of April 2020 pending further review.
There are insurance implications where a club elects to continue to run club events and activities; they need to ensure that they meet all the legislative requirement State & Federal as well as any specific local requirements, (that are changing on a daily basis) not only managing numbers at the events, social distancing requirements and being prepared to notify members attending of the ongoing risks and the specific requirements of attending such an event in line with the daily changes.

This decision was not made lightly and we arranged a conference call inviting all our clubs to be present as we made this decision.

The purpose in taking this action now is to help protect our members and the wider community and slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. At the same time we would like to minimise the risk to our members, their families, people who are volunteers at our clubs and the wider community.
All our decisions will be made with the best interest of our members, the vulnerable and the wider community in mind.

We thank you in advance for your ongoing support during this challenging time. We acknowledge that this is a hard decision and may not be the view of all our members.

We ask members to refrain from negative comments and to support the committee who are making the hard decisions and following the recommended protocols.
Further developments and updates will be made available as the COVID-19 situation evolves.

    Kind Regards
    Terry Sheather
    3DAAA President

  • Corona Virus Update 13 March 2020

Corona Virus Update 13 March 2020

3DAAA would like to make the following points on our shoots with regard to the current Corona Virus situation. We will of course be following any guidelines put in place by our Government.
    • If you have any flu like symptoms or have had any in the last 2 weeks, please DO NOT attend any 3DAAA shoot, both club or sanctioned shoots.
    • If you are exhibiting flu like symptoms, you will be asked to leave immediately.
    • If you or someone you have had close contact with has been overseas in the last 2 weeks please do not attend any 3DAAA shoots, both at a club or sanctioned shoot.
    • Please remember to use general precautions, wash hands often and thoroughly. Use of hand sanitizer is also recommended.
    • AT THIS POINT we will not be asking clubs to cancel or postponed their shoots, however if a club should choose to do so we will support their decision.
    • Stay up to date via our facebook page. This is the quickest way to get information on cancelled/postponed shoots.
    • See https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/…/dise…/Pages/coronavirus.aspx for more information on Corona Virus.

  • 2018 Young Achiever Award

    2018 Young Achiever Award

    2018 Young Achievers Award

The 3DAAA committee is asking for nominations for the annual Young Achievers award. To nominate a young member, please submit in writing explaining why you think this person is worthy of winning this annual award. Email your nomination to committee@3daaa.com.au by 28th October 2018.

This annual award was introduced to recognise some of our outstanding young archers.

This award is not simply about performance, this award also encompasses a positive attitude towards 3D archery and in particular, 3DAAA. While performing at your best is always something our Young Achiever strives for, they also understand that having fun and promoting the sport in the wider community are also important.

The award is decided by the committee after reviewing nominations made by the young archers club or a member of the association who feels the cub or youth should be recognised for their efforts with a special presentation.

This award is open to all cub and youth shooters and is presented with other annual awards at the Associations Annual Awards Ceremony following the Australian Titles in November at Nambucca Heads.

  • 2018 Hoyt Bow Sponsorship

    2018 Hoyt Bow Sponsorship

The 2017 3DAAA nationals at Nambucca Heads NSW will be one I’ll always remember. It was as always a lot of fun but with some challenges. I was shooting in a peer group with my brothers girlfriend Annalise and we got to the second target of the weekend and her strings broke. She was understandably upset not only because we’d come so far to shoot but it was also quite a shock. Anna had to go back to the cabins and wasn’t going to shoot for the rest of the weekend but I always bring a spare bow which has come in handy a few times such as that weekend. We got my spare bow set up for her as best we could and she managed to finish the shoot and even beat my score with my own bow. The rest of the weekend was sun and sand which was the best way to finish any shoot. At the presentations dinner I was stuffing my face with lasagne, dinner was great by the way, when I heard my name called out and almost everyone in the room turned around and faced me. I hadn’t realised at the time that I’d won the lucky door prize which was my choice of a new Hoyt bow. It was probably one of the luckiest and best moments I’ve had as I’ve never owned a brand new bow nor a Hoyt. After talking to Abbey archery for only a short time, I now have my brand new Hoyt Prevail FX and I have been practicing with it for a few days and love it as well as the colour too. So I’d like to say a big, big thank you to the 3DAAA committee, Hoyt and Abbey archery. Hopefully this year will be my best.

    With thanks,
    Krystal Callon
